Split Peas Puree

Packed with flavour and velvety in texture this side dish is going to become a new family favorite!

  • 500 gr yellow split peas
  • 0.5 cup olive oil
  • 3 medium onions divided
  • 2 lemons juiced
  • 1 Tbsn capers rinsed


  • Rinse the split peas and boil in your pressure cooker for two min. Let stand for 30 min. Strain, rinse and place it back in the pot. Cover with cold water and bring to boil.
  • Skim any foam that might appear and add one whole onion, salt, pepper and olive oil.
  • Set your pressure cooker to high and cook for 15 -18 min. Open the pressure cooker using the quick release method. Remove the onion and let the peas cool for 5 min.
  • Transfer the peas in a blender and add the lemon juice. Blend to your desired consistency.
  • Serve in a bowl and top with capers, olive olive oil and finely diced onions.
