Green beans with red sauce is a traditional Greek dish.
What you might call “mama food”.
Ok, I admit that I just invented this term. But how else would you describe a food that is hearty, satisfying, filling, makes you feel great and both kids and adults enjoy eating?
From here on out I will call it “mama food”.
You can call it a hug…
Another HUGE asset that this dish has, apart from it being delicious, is that it is vegan. So next time you are wondering what to cook for meatless Monday this is it. I highly recommend pinning this recipe.
BUT, if you are a meat lover don’t turn it down either. Try it with roasted chicken, meatballs, meatloaf, shredded pork or sausage. Depending on the meat of your choice you can even cook them together making this a one pot dish! Or, you can just heat up any leftover meat that you have. Does it get any better than this?
Well, I am glad that you asked because, YES you can take it up one more notch by adding some feta cheese on top.
And don’t forget to have some crusty bread on the side to mop all the scrumptious juices.
In all reality this is just heaven on a plate.
Have I convinced you to pin this recipe yet?
The versatility of this recipe doesn’t end here though.
The recipe I share uses frozen beans and is cooked in an Instant Pot.
Depending on our resources you can totally make it on the stove pot (increase cooking time by half) and you can use fresh produce (increase cooking time by half in the Instant Pot and double it on the stove top).
I am sure you and your family are going to love it!
